CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland police cruiser rushing to a disturbance at a liquor store ended up in a four-car crash after someone pulled in front of the cruiser at an intersection in the city’s Glenville neighborhood.
The two police officers in the cruiser suffered minor injuries. Another driver suffered a knee injury, police said.
The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Superior Avenue and East 105th Street.
The officer was driving on Superior with his lights and sirens on as he approached the red light. The officer slowed and drove left of the double yellow lines around stopped traffic, police said.
Another car on East 105th Street failed to stop for the cruiser and drove into the intersection. The cruiser crashed into the side of the car, police said.
The other car bounced off the cruiser and hit the front of a third car that had stopped on East 105th Street for the cruiser.
The cruiser spun after the crash and stopped in the intersection. A fourth car driving north on East 105th crashed into the back of the cruiser, according to police. The driver of that car sped off and has not been identified, police said.
No arrests have been made.
