If one looks at the number of new infections, the numbers of belgian follow-up of the epidemic are increasingly worrisome, climbing 465 positive cases per day on average (and more than 650 contaminated on the last two days known). This figure sharply higher on the week, however, must be put in parallel with the number of tests performed. However, since a few days, the capacity of the belgian testing is on the rise: 12.710 people are being tested every day, on average, an increase of 54% compared to last week.
When looking for more, there is obviously more to the case. This creates a bias in the comparison between the current number of diagnosed cases and that of previous weeks. To avoid this, one of the indicators to keep an eye is the proportion of positive tests. Sunday, it was seen as a micro-thinning: after reaching 3.9% of positive cases, this indicator has just lowered for the first time since 25 days (except 21st), dropping to 3.6% of positive. A first sign of a lull, even though it is too early to rejoice.
