Drunken driving, Royalton Road: On Jan. 8, a driver called police after a dark-colored Dodge Ram rear-ended his red Ford Fusion, causing the car to hit a mailbox on Royalton Road.

An arriving officer talked to the driver, who smelled like alcohol. Also, his story didn’t make sense. The officer discovered the Fusion had spun out before hitting the mailbox. After failing a field sobriety test, the man was arrested for drunken driving. 

Shoplifting, SouthPark Center: On Jan. 4, police were dispatched to the mall after store security watched a man walk out to the door with a handful of merchandise.

An arriving officer arrested the man in the parking lot for shoplifting. The thief’s juvenile sister was with him. She wasn’t arrested but had to wait for their mother to pick her up.

Fraud, Royalton Road: On Jan. 7, police were dispatched to the PNC Bank after a teller pushed the holdup button. It turned out they panicked when a man attempted to use a fraudulent credit card.

An arriving officer arrested the man for fraud. The teller was educated on the ins and outs of the holdup button. 

Game over, Pearl Road: On Jan. 7, Walmart security watched a man stealing video game controllers Limanbet in the toy section. An arriving officer arrested the man, who was wearing a hoodie and stocking cap. He was charged with shoplifting. 

Drunken driving, Royalton Road: On Jan. 7, police were dispatched a two-car accident involving a Jeep and Chevy Malibu on Royalton Road. While the officer was talking to the driver of the Jeep, he smelled alcohol.

After failing a field sobriety test, the man was arrested for drunken driving.  

Disorderly conduct, SouthPark Center: On Jan. 8, police were dispatched to the mall regarding a bar fight that had moved into the parking lot near Houlihan’s. An arriving officer was told there were no injuries but a lot of screaming.

One man was cited for disorderly conduct. 

Disorderly conduct, SouthPark Center: On Jan. 8, a store employee called police about two drunk men about to drive away in a Jeep. An arriving officer located the men, one of whom was a juvenile who was released to their mother. Both were cited for disorderly conduct. 

Drunken driving, Pearl Road: On Jan 10, police were dispatched to a Pearl Road restaurant parking lot after a two-car crash involving a Honda and Ford. Apparently one of the drivers was drunk. He took off walking before the police arrived.

However, they quickly caught the man, who after failing a field sobriety test was arrested for drunken driving.
