Jim and Melissa Benson, owners of Owings Mills-based Eleven Courses Catering & Event Co., will appear on HGTV’s "Beachfront Bargain Hunt" in an episode showcasing their search for a South Carolina getaway.
The episode, which premieres Friday afternoon, documents the Bensons’ hunt for a beach retreat in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Melissa Benson said she’s been vacationing on the island for about 20 years with her family, and with her husband, Jim, for the past 13 years. When they began looking to buy a house last year, she said their real estate agent, Tammy Moody, asked if they would be interested in documenting the process on HGTV’s "Beachfront Bargain Hunt."

They filmed the house hunt, checking out three houses on camera, for about a week in October and ultimately purchased one, Benson said.
"I feel like we found the perfect house for us," she said.
She and her family — the couple have two daughters — have already spent some time there. Benson said she expects to spend about a month at the house each summer, with a few weeks during the catering off-season from January through March.
In addition to a place to relax, Benson said visiting South Carolina helps fuel creative development as the couple look for new inspiration for their menus.
"One of our favorite go-tos is … creative comfort food," she said. "You’re just around a lot of fun, good home-cooked meals."

Melissa is the company’s event director and Jim is the executive chef.
"The low country is the epicenter of our comfort food muse," Jim said in an email. "There is inspiration at every corner, on every plate of Southern love."
The episode premieres Friday at 2:30 p.m. and will be shown again Feb. 26 at 4:30 p.m.
