Brooklyn residents want to get New Jersey drivers out of their neighborhoods.

A community board on the Brooklyn side of the Verrazano Bridge is seeking to reinstate two-way tolling, saying it will thin out the traffic caused by Garden State motorists who use it as an alternate route to Manhattan.

Community Board 6 District Manager Craig Hammerman sent a letter to Gov. Cuomo last week asking him to change the toll method from the current round-trip fee that is collected on the Verrazano’s Brooklyn side. He said Jersey drivers take the longer route because it is cheaper than going through the Holland Tunnel.

The state eliminated the toll for drivers coming from Staten Island in 1986 because idling cars waiting to pay cash were causing traffic woes on that side. But now that all of the tolls will be cashless come this summer and cars can breeze through, there’s no reason to make that direction toll-free, said Hammerman.

Officials in Cuomo’s office said they will review the letter.
