AKRON, Ohio — A house explosion has been reported in Akron, the fire department said Tuesday.

The explosion happened near the intersection of Courtland and South Hawkins Avenues on the city’s west side, the Akron fire department said in a news release. “A couple” of injuries have been reported. 

The intersection remains closed to traffic, and residents are asked to avoid the area, the release says.
