A California federal judge declined to set bail for the widow of the Orlando Nightclub shooter–and instead ordered a psych evaluation for the woman, who sobbed throughout the hearing.
The judge said she might consider setting bail for 31-year-old Noor Salman after learning the results of the evaluation.
Defense attorney Charles Swift argued that the mom– who formerly entered a “not guilty” plea– is not a flight risk or a threat to public safety, and in court papers even said family members had pledged their homes as collateral.
But the judge disagreed Wednesday, after federal prosecutors revealed that Salman saw her late husband, Omar Mateen, leave home with a gun and backpack full of ammunition the night of the attack.
Salman was arrested in January at her mother’s home Bahis Siteleri in Rodeo, CA, and charged with aiding and abetting her husband in the Pulse nightclub massacre, where 49 people were killed and 53 wounded.
Defense attorney maintain Salman was a battered spouse who had no inkling of her husband’s deadly plans.
