CLEVELAND, Ohio – Lady Gaga doesn’t just perform. She puts on a spectacle unlike anything few musicians could ever imagine.

In that sense, Gaga is the most ideal of current pop performers to take the stage during a Super Bowl halftime show; something she sought to prove during the midpoint of Sunday’s Super Bowl LI.

Gaga kicked things off on top of the opened roof of NRG Stadium’s dome singing “God Bless America.” She then flew through the air (with cables attached) singing her biggest early hit “Poker Face,” backed by explosions and a light extravaganza.

To be honest, her moves in the air were a bit awkward (cable slack, people!). From there, Gaga let her hair down and hit the stage with her group of dancers for a version of “Born This Way.”

Anyone who’s seen Gaga’s live shows knows that the performance fell in line with the showcase she typically delivers on tour, colorful wardrobe, pyrotechnics and all.

Next it was onto her catchy dance hit “Telephone.” And no, Gaga’s duet partner on the song, Beyonce, did not make a cameo (Oh, what could have been). Gaga continued her hits parade by grabbing a keytar for her performance of “Just Dance.”

As Gaga is known to do, she took a risk. Halfway through her set, she slowed things down and sat at the piano (atop a giant disco ball no less) for a performance of her brilliant new duet “Million Reasons.”

This is awesome and beautiful and she jumped off the roof of a stadium. My lord. #PepsiHalftime #SB51 pic.twitter.com/P3pW3CqmzF

This prompted everyone in the arena to pull out their cellphones. She even snuck in a hello to her parents. It also brought on tears from one lucky girl who got a hug from Gaga.

Of course, the biggest Gaga song of them all prompted the pop star to remove some clothes and rock her own version of football pads. That’s just how you roll during “Bad Romance. (This also had to come close to as many dancers who have ever been on stage for a Super Bowl halftime show, right?).

What a way to end things! Fireworks galore, false rumors of Tony Bennett coming out on stage (Thanks goodness) and an emphatic mic drop. The Super Bowl halftime show was built for an artist like Gaga and vise versa.
