President Trump’s Mexican border could take just two years to build, the head of Department of Homeland Security claimed in an interview this week.

“The wall will be built where it’s needed first, and then it will be filled in. That’s the way I look at it,” Secretary John Kelly told Fox News in an interview.

“I really hope to have it done within the next two years,” the retired four-star Marine general added.

The DHS secretary gave the interview during a trip to the border — where he explained that input from patrol agents would be critical to building the wall, which will be more than just a physical structure.

“Any discussion about the protection of our southwest border involves discussion of physical barriers but also of technological sensors, things like that,” said Kelly.

“But it’s a layered approach, and it’s got to be backed up by great men and women who are going to make sure that the wall is intact,” he added.

Kelly, who reiterated President Trump’s pledge to begin construction within months, sounded confident Congress would provide cash for the project.

“I think the funding will come relatively quickly,” he predicted.
