A man has been arrested after a burst of gunfire nearly hit two nine-year-old girls playing in the hallway of a North York apartment building.

Police responded to a call at about 5:40 p.m. Monday for the sound of gunshots at Finch Ave. E., and Brahms Ave., near Don Mills Rd.

Once police arrived on scene, they found bullet holes on an apartment’s door. A man was screaming inside the unit so they broke down the door, police said.

Police allege that the man threw a firearm and ammunition off the balcony during the incident. Police later recovered a Norinco 320 Uzi 9mm gun.

Edris Ghulami, 25, is facing 14 charges including four counts of attempted murder, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, common nuisance and a number of other gun-related charges.
