Feedback from North Side residents a few years ago indicated that internet access was lacking, as was a place to convene to work on neighborhood projects.

Providing free internet access and technology training at Nova Place, formerly Allegheny Center Mall, is the first phase in one plan to respond to residents' needs, encourage innovation and drive investment in communities on Pittsburgh's North Side, officials in a corporate-nonprofit partnership announced at a news conference Tuesday at Nova Place.

“Access to the internet will no longer be a barrier to solutions or innovations — at least not on the North Side,” said Lisa Birmingham, vice president of external & government affairs for Comcast's Keystone Region.
