Drunken driving, Pearl Road: On Jan. 21, an off-duty police officer observed a black Chevy Cruze jump a curb on Pearl Road. Soon after, the officer pulled over the weaving car on Strongsville Boulevard.

He took the keys out of the car. An arriving Strongsville Police Officer located the Cruze. After failing a field sobriety test, the man was arrested for drunken driving. 

Criminal damage, Drake Road: On Jan. 21, police were dispatched to a Drake Road business where an employee found his window had been broken out of his Chevy. Nothing was missing from the car.

There are no suspects. Police are investigating. 

Theft from auto, Benbow Road: On Jan. 21, police were dispatched to a Benbow Road home after its owner discovered someone entered his unlocked Toyota Camry and took $50 in change and a book bag that contained a knife.

Identity theft, Prospect Road: On Jan. 21, a Prospect Road resident came to the police station to report someone opened credit cards using his name. The man said he was recently notified about a $10,000 ring purchase at Jared’s Jewelers in Columbus.

Police are investigating. 

Shoplifting, Royalton Road: On Jan. 22, police were dispatched to a Marathon gas station after an employee called to say a man stole a cellphone charger. An arriving officer talked to the employee, who said a man asked if he could charge his phone in the store.

They said no. That’s when he grabbed a phone charger and left. He then walked across the street to BP, which is where officers found the thief. The man was cited for shoplifting. 

Shoplifting, Pearl Road: On Jan. 22, Walmart security called police after identifying two shoppers with a known history of stealing energy drinks. The employee said the woman was also stuffing seafood in her purse.

It turned out the pair had been at the store the day before, but left after seeing the police. An arriving officer arrested both as they exited Walmart. The man appeared high. It turned out both thieves had multiple arrest warrants.
