AKRON, Ohio – Ratebeer.com has named Hoppin’ Frog Brewery one of the world’s 100 best breweries for the 10th time.

It’s impressive considering the Akron brewery, founded by Fred Karm, has been opened just more than 10 years.

The beer-review site says more than 470,000 beers from more than 26,000 breweries were tallied for the best-of rankings, a year-to-year increase of more than 13 percent.

The top 10

* Hill Farmstead Brewery, Greensboro, Vermont.
* Cycle Brewing, St. Petersburg, Florida.
* Trillium Brewing Co., Boston.
* Cigar City Brewing, Tampa, Florida.
* Cloudwater Brew Co., Manchester, England.
* Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands.
* De Garde Brewing, Tillamook, Oregon.
* Three Floyds Brewing Company, Munster, Indiana.
* Evil Twin Brewing, Brooklyn, New York.
* Other Half Brewing, Brooklyn, New York.

Jackie’s O’s was the only other Ohio brewery on the list. The brewery and its Jackie O’s Iced Coffee Apparition also were named to the top beer and brewer by subregion category, and its Athens neighbor, Little Fish Brewing Co., was named best new brewer in Ohio.

On the best places for beer list by state, Tremont Tap House in Cleveland was named best bar, and Vintage Estate Wine and Beer in Boardman earned best bottle-shop honors.

Americans breweries composed three-quarters of the best brewers list.
