CLEVELAND, Ohio – Sunny skies will dominate the region during a big warm up this weekend, especially Saturday when temperatures are forecasted to reach 57 degrees, just 5 degrees below the record.

(So maybe I was right and the groundhog was wrong?)

The How

A strong high pressure system will bring temperatures above average this weekend and keep skies nice and dry, allowing that sun to once again peek out. High pressure systems cause sinking motion in the atmosphere, which leads the air to dry significantly and become very stable.

Since rain and snow showers need moisture and instability to form, this is why precipitation chances are so low all weekend.
