CLEVELAND, Ohio — Sammy Hagar is headed to Cleveland and he’s bringing one of his former Van Halen band mates with him.
Sammy Hagar and the Circle will play the Hard Rock Rocksino in Northfield Park on June 24 at 8 p.m..
The group features Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony as well as Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, on drums, and guitarist Vic Johnson from Hagar’s previous band the Wabos.
Hagar replaced David Lee Roth as the frontman for Van Halen from 1986-1996 and sang lead on such hits as “Dreams,” “When It’s Love” and “Why Can’t This Be Love.” He and Anthony were inducted along with the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
In addition to some of those Van Halen classics, Hagar’s Cleveland show will feature songs from his solo career (“I Can’t Drive 55,” anybody?) with a few Led Zeppelin standards thrown in.
Tickets go on sale February 17 at 10 a.m. at the Rocksino box office or at ticketmaster.com.
