AKRON, Ohio — The folks at the Akron Zoo couldn’t have asked for a better day to introduce the public to their latest additions on Monday thanks to perfect February weather, and free admission on Presidents Day.
“We expect to get between 4,000 to 5,000 visitors today” said David Barnhardt, director of marketing at the zoo, “normally we’d get about 500 visitors on a February day.”

The newest additions on display starting Monday are two Humbolt penguins, Rocky and Armando, who are a breeding pair (Rocky is the female); Padar, a 6-year-old komodo dragon; and Biru, a 6-year-old red panda.
The animals are part of an exchange with other zoos around the country to keep the species reproducing.
