The european Court of human rights once again condemned Thursday from Belgium to the poor conditions of detention inflicted on the prisoners during the strike of prison officers in the spring 2016.
As she had done already last year for similar relief, the high court of strasbourg considered that the cumulative effect during the strike of the continuing lack of physical activity, repeated failures to meet hygiene standards, the lack of contact with the outside world and the uncertainty of seeing their basic needs met, has resulted in the applicants distress which exceeded the level of unavoidable suffering inherent in detention, which constitutes degrading treatment.
