CLEVELAND, Ohio — In the span of just a few days, President Trump and his chaos team ratcheted up tensions with Iran over a non-violation of the Iran Nuclear Deal, recklessly damaged relations with Australia and used a prayer service to disparage Arnold Schwarzenegger over something as trivial as TV ratings. Making America great again, or making America a bad joke?
Thursday,at the National Prayer Breakfast, Trump brought up “The Apprentice” which he hosted for many years
“They hired a big, big movie start, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to take my place. And we know how that turned out. The ratings went right down the tubes. It’s been a total disaster. And Mark (Burnett-show creator) will never bet against Trump again,” said Trump
Trump topped off his remarks by sarcastically saying “I want to just pray for Arnold, if we can, for those ratings.”
Arnold responded by posting a video message on social media.
“Hey Donald, I have a great idea. Why don’t we switch jobs? You take over TV, since you’re such an expert in ratings, and I’ll take your job, and then people can finally sleep comfortably again.”
Trump is the first Republican presidential candidate Schwarzenegger did not vote for. He also criticized Trump’s recent Immigration EO.
American law prevents the former California governor from seeking the presidency, having been born in a foreign county. Had Schwarzenegger been allowed to run, he almost certainly would have. And it’s a good bet he could have won the Republican nomination and the presidency over Trump.
Right now, it’s more likely that at least 65,844,954 Americans are praying the Trump administration doesn’t do permanent damage to the nation or get us all killed in nuclear war, not for TV ratings.
