The eternal safety and security of the American people is currently in the hands of the courts, President Trump said in a Wednesday morning tweet.
“If the U.S. does not win this case as it so obviously should, we can never have the security and safety to which we are entitled. Politics!” Trump said.
The proclamation came hours after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco heard an argument by government lawyers Tuesday night to overturn the restraining order placed by a lower judge on Trump’s temporary travel ban.
A decision from the court is expected later this week.
If the order to halt the implementation of the ban is upheld, it’s expected the case would be elevated to the Supreme Court.
The travel ban, which applies to seven mostly Muslim countries, is only in place for 3 months, according to the executive order.
