CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland police are investigating a double shooting in the city’s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.
Homicide detectives remained on scene as of 1:15 p.m.
The incident happened in the 3400 block of East 140th Street, which remained cordoned off with police tape early Wednesday afternoon.
A 25-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and a 33-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the hip, Cleveland police Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.
Resident Moesha Sharp says she and three children were inside a back bedroom of the home when a shootout broke out.
Sharp said she heard at least 10 gunshots exchanged between two individuals and scrambled to hide the kids that were with her.
The woman who was shot then ran to Sharp’s room and begged her for help, Sharp says.
“She was saying ‘help me, help me, please help me’ and she fell on my bed,” Sharp says.
Sharp also saw the man who was shot lying in the street moments after the shootout, Sharp says.
Police have not released details on the pair’s current medical conditions.
