AKRON, Ohio — University of Akron police are seeking information related to a Monday afternoon off-campus shooting.

The shooting happened about 1:15 p.m. on South Adolph Avenue, east of campus and Ohio Route 8, university officials said in a news alert. The victim, who is not a student, was shot in the foot.

The male shooter ran westbound – toward campus – through backyards after the shooting. The victim could not provide a description of the shooter, and no suspects have been identified, university police said.

The Akron Police Department is investigating the shooting. An Akron police spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for more information on the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact University of Akron police detectives at 330-972-2911. Tips can also be confidentially sent via text message by sending the word ZIPTIP to 274637.
