CLEVELAND, Ohio – It’s going to be a cloudy, gray, rainy day in Cleveland, so make sure to bring out those rain boots and umbrella. Slight chances of rain begin in the late morning and trickle into late evening, but the afternoon is where you’ll see the greatest threat.

At least there’s no need to break out the winter coat, because today’s temperature will top off at 64 degrees.

The How:

A weak cold front will push west to east across Ohio today, sparking rain showers from the late morning, after 10 a.m., through late evening.

Cold fronts push the warmer, moister air ahead up into the atmosphere. As the air rises it becomes very unstable, eventually producing condensation and rainfall. In the afternoon, instability peaks because of heating from the sun, so between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. rain chances are greatest.
