A woman was killed and an off-duty police officer was seriously injured in a car accident late Wednesday night on City Island, police say.

The man’s life was saved by two off duty police officers, who were driving home from the Rodman’s Neck shooting range in the Bronx when they spotted the red 2012 Dodge Charger flipped over and on fire at the traffic loop on Park Drive, cops say.

The cops pulled over and rushed to remove the driver from the flaming vehicle but were unable to save the woman, who died.

The cop who was rescued from the car suffered severe burns on his legs and smoke inhalation. He is listed in critical condition.

It is unclear from initial reports if the car had been struck by another vehicle or if the damage done to the SUV was a result of a collision with trees inside the traffic circle.

The incident is still under investigation.
