Air Force One is parked outside Boeing Co.’s Port San Antonio repair and maintenance facility this week. A Boeing spokesman in San Antonio wouldn’t say why the plane was in its repair facility due “to the nature of the program,” referring calls to the Air Force. Calls to the 89th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Andrews near Washington, D.C., and to the Air Force at the Pentagon were not returned. Boeing has the contract to do maintenance work on the executive fleet of aircraft used to carry high-ranking U.S. officials such as the president, vice president and cabinet members. The Air Force One designation actually is given to any Air Force aircraft carrying the president no matter the size or type of the plane.
