SAN ANTONIO — Authorities are searching for a driver who they say fled from a Bexar County deputy during a traffic stop Friday, collided with another car during the evasion and then made an escape into nearby woods on the East Side.
Sgt. Anderson with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop around 10:15 a.m. at an unknown location in the East Side.
The vehicle initially looked like it was going to pull over, BCSO said, but then the driver sped off.
While evading the deputy, the driver collided with a pickup truck near Interstate 10 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard but continued on.

The vehicle continued into a nearby neighborhood, where the driver abandoned the car near the intersection of H Street and Advance Drive and ran into the woods near the Salado Creek Greenway, where police lost track of them.
“We have a couple leads we’re trying to pursue, but we’re waiting on more info now,” Anderson said.
Helicopters responded to patrol the area, but the suspect has not been located yet.
The driver in the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, but was transported to a nearby hospital due to his age.
