A man at an Allentown hospital for a possible overdose on synthetic marijuana went “berserk” Tuesday night and attacked three hospital employees, city police said.

Joshua Hernandez kicked a St. Luke’s Hospital emergency room tech in the ribs and punched the man in the head, headbutted and kicked a hospital security guard and punched a second guard, Allentown police said.

The 30-year-old Hernandez, no address listed in court paperwork, is charged with three counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

He was sent to Lehigh County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Police said Hernandez walked into the emergency room at 17th and Hamilton streets for a possible synthetic marijuana overdose. As Hernandez was being walked from the waiting room to another room, he attacked the staff, polic said.

Hernandez was eventually restrained on a hospital bed, police said. Officers later learned Hernandez has a probation detainer out of Lehigh County.
