The Easton police Vice and Special Response units, armed with arrest and search warrants, entered a Palmer Township apartment early Thursday morning but the wanted man wasn’t home.

Police were looking for Samuel Luciano, 32, when they arrived about 6 a.m. at Apartment C at 610 Oakwood St., a road a block south of William Penn Highway and two blocks east of Greenwood Avenue, Lt. Matthew Gerould said.

In what began as an investigation into heroin sales in Easton, police had an arrest warrant signed by Downtown District Judge Antonia Grifo charging Luciano with possession with intent to deliver heroin and criminal use of a cellphone, Gerould and court papers said.

Controlled buys were made from Luciano, Gerould said. The arrest warrant was sworn out on Wednesday but tied to a Jan. 5 incident, court papers say.

Police at 6:30 a.m. were searching the apartment.

Easton police were assisted by Palmer police and the Northampton County Drug Task Force, Gerould said.
