An Easton man admitted Friday he filmed himself raping a 3-year-old girl twice.

Courtney Thompson, 19, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of raping a child. In exchange, six related charges were dismissed.

Police said he made two videos of sexual abuse on Aug. 25 and a third on Sept. 1 at his home in the 600 block of Wilkes-Barre Street.

He faces up to 80 years in prison when he’s sentenced May 5, according to Northampton County Assistant District Attorney Tatum Wilson.

“These charges are by their nature felonies and they are very serious charges, among the most serious pertaining to sexual offenses. Do you understand that?” asked Northampton County Senior Judge Leonard Zito.

“Yes, your honor,” Thompson answered.

Attending the plea hearing were the victim’s mother and grandparents. They plan to speak at the sentencing hearing.

The victim’s father told lehighvalleylive.com in December that he regrets his military deployment kept him away where he couldn’t protect his daughter.

Thompson faces a lifetime sex offender registration requirement. He will be evaluated prior to sentencing to determine whether he’s a sexually violent predator.

Defense attorney Anthony Rybak said Thompson’s father will speak on his behalf at the sentencing. Rybak plans to hire psychologist Frank Dattillio for an independent evaluation.
