Pittsburgh police released two surveillance videos Tuesday that show Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter arguing with a bouncer and grabbing an officer’s forearms during an altercation outside a South Side bar last month.
In the videos, released several hours after Porter pleaded guilty to a summary charge of disorderly conduct, Porter can be seen arguing with the bouncer in the doorway of The Flats, at times getting into the man’s face, while a group of men stand behind him.
About two minutes into the argument, Officer Paul Abel approaches the doorway and stands several feet behind Porter, apparently attempting to defuse the situation verbally.
As Porter gets closer to the bouncer, Abel eventually steps closer, at which point Porter appears to push the bouncer off the bar’s front step and wrap his arms around him.
Abel and the other men nearby push Porter back against a parked car, and Porter grabs and holds Abel’s raised arms for several seconds before he lets go and the group attempts to separate them.
A second video from a different vantage shows Abel moving several of the men out of the way and standing toe-to-toe with Porter before the video cuts off after about 3 1⁄2 minutes.
