FLEMINGTON – Janay T. Bell, 25, of Manville – indicted in 2014 for shoplifting, theft, hindering apprehension and eluding – has been named the fugitive of the week by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.

An arrest warrant was issued on Feb. 14, 2014, when Bell, indicted by a Hunterdon County grand jury in January of 2014, did not appear in court, according to a news release.

Bell, then 22 and living in Somerville, was one of two people indicted on two counts of third-degree shoplifting, two counts of third-degree theft, fourth-degree hindering apprehension, and third-degree eluding, it was previously reported.

Bell and a second woman reportedly stole 10 containers of baby formula, a purse, clothing, a Nikon Coolpix camera, a Lifeworks tablet case, an RCA tablet, two HP tablets, one Beats Pill speaker and two Android tablets from Walmart in Readington Township between Sept. 2 and Nov. 28, 2013, according to previous reports.

Bell allegedly gave false information when questioned by police and the other woman allegedly drove away after a Readington Township officer tried to stop them, it was reported.

Bell is described as 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.
