SAN ANTONIO — A man who stopped to lend a helping hand at a one-vehicle wreck on the Northwest Side Wednesday ended up pinned under the vehicle when a third driver slammed into the scene, according to police.
Emergency personnel responded at about 2:50 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Loop 1604 and Interstate 10, where a Hyundai Santa Fe had been involved in a single-vehicle crash.
Another driver, who stopped to help the driver of the Hyundai, was standing outside the wrecked vehicle when a Volkswagen Tiguan struck the Hyundai.

The collision knocked the Hyundai into a concrete retaining wall, pinning the man under the vehicle, according to a preliminary police report and a sergeant at the scene.
The man was transported to University Hospital after suffering a broken arm and ribs, the sergeant said.
The driver of the Hyundai was assessed for intoxication and was arrested on a DWI charge, according to a police report.
