To the editor:
I was very unhappy to read that my Congressman, U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-N.J.), just voted to allow mining companies to throw their waste, including dangerous heavy metals like selenium, mercury, and arsenic, into America’s streams.
I am speaking about H.J. Res. 38, if you want to check it out.
Doesn’t Lance know that he represents a Congressional District that values its environment?
Here in Hunterdon County, we are fiercely proud of our streams, fish, and wildlife, as well as our open spaces and nature preserves. That is a major reason so many of us choose to live and raise our children here.
Imagine if there were coal companies in Hunterdon County, where we have more than 35 streams. Could we trust Lance’s judgment? No one wants their streams filled with any company’s dangerous waste.
Lance doesn’t represent my interests anymore, and now I don’t trust him.
