SAN ANTONIO — Police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of a Northeast Side day care center Friday.
Officers responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m. at the Kids “R” Fun day care center in the 8000 block of Midcrown Drive.
The shots were fired from a car that drove into the day care parking lot, according to police. The suspect shot at a group of about 10 men who were gathered outside a gas station next to the day care.
Sgt. Malcolm Guidry said seven men were seen fleeing the scene, but it’s possible they were just citizens scared by the shooting who ran.
“It was like a drive by,” Guidry said.
He said the suspect, or suspects, in the car then drove out of the day care parking lot and fled north on Midcrown Drive.

About four or five shots were fired, and a bullet went through the window of an apartment complex across the street from the day care, police said.
Police obtained surveillance video from the apartment, which gave them more information on how the shooting unfolded.
The Kids “R” Fun day care was placed on lockdown, according to police.
Edward W. White Middle School, about a block from the day care, was placed on a “soft lockdown” around 11:55 a.m., according to White Principal Dr. Brent Brummet. The lockdown was lifted within a half hour.
No one was reported injured in the shooting and so far no arrests have been made.
