Snow fell in Seattle on Thursday night, Feb. 2, 2017, although forecasters said accumulations would be light and snow would give way to rain overnight.

Despite the appearance of snow in Seattle late Thursday evening, forecasters say the white stuff should turn to wet stuff overnight as warmer, damper air overtakes the cold air that’s been dominating the city’s weather in recent days.

It was 34 degrees at Sea-Tac Airport and 33 degrees at Boeing Field at 11 p.m., so even though the white stuff was sticking around the city, evidence of creeping warmth was already registering on National Weather Service equipment at points south.

The NWS forecast calls for “little or no snow accumulation” overnight and just plain rain after 10 a.m. Friday. The chance of rain will be 90 percent.
