Seattle’s late winter snow storm may have been a nice surprise for a moment, but now residents must deal with its after-effects.

The roads in Seattle are mostly bare and wet this morning, but some areas are hanging on to the snow. KOMO News meteorologist Seth Wayne reports Pierce County is one of the worst places for drivers, as there’s more than a foot of snow still left on the ground. There are 28 trucks out plowing nearly 1,700 miles across the county, and driver should be vigilant for any patches of black ice or other slick spots.

Any lingering fears of slick roads should be gone by this evening. The forecast for today shows highs in the upper 30s with a mix of clouds and sun. Wednesday and Thursday expect rain with increasingly warmer temperatures in the low 40s.

Some kids may get to extend their weekend again today. Many schools are starting two hours late and have changes to bus routes or after-school programming. You can see the full school closure/late start list here.

The heavy snow and ice cut power to thousands in Seattle Monday, but service in many areas has been restored. PSE reports the lights are still out for about 25,000 customers Tuesday morning. You can see the full outage map here.

Snoqualmie Pass is open in both directions with traction tires advised. Chains or all-wheel drive is required at Stevens Pass.
