(CNN)The Northeast hunkered down on Thursday for what looks to be the most significant storm of the season, with a foot of snow of forecast and blizzard conditions in some areas.

Due to expected significant snowfall all @NYCSchools will be CLOSED tomorrow, Feb 9.
