An Austin couple knew they were engaging in a “lewd act” when they were stopped by an officer over the weekend at Hippie Hollow, arrest records show.
William Hamilton, 25, and Theresa Santos, 23, were arrested Sunday and charged with public lewdness, a Class A misdemeanor, at Austin’s clothing-optional Hippie Hollow Park on Lake Travis.
An arrest affidavit states an officer found them both nude, sitting on a rock near the water.

The couple were “seated very closely to each other” and “were kissing intensely,” the affidavit states, adding that there are numerous signs posted throughout the park which say: “NO LEWD ACTS IN PUBLIC.”
Santos’ arm was draped over Hamilton’s leg, and the two were engaged in a sexual act, according to the arrest record.
When the officer approached the couple and asked if they knew why, Hamilton said: “Because we were doing a lewd act.”
Both were released from the Travis County Jail Monday and a PR bond, said spokeswoman Kristen Dark.
