CLINTON TWP. – Carlos Fierro, 22, of El Paso, Texas, is facing a number of charges after the 2005 Pontiac G6 he was driving was stopped on Route 173 at 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, police said.

An officer said Fierro was acting nervously during the stop. A check showed he did not have a driver’s license, police said.

A search of the vehicle turned up a glass pipe containing methamphetamine, as well as medication for which he did not have a prescription. Officers also seized $5,000 in cash that was believed to be the proceeds from criminal activity, police said.

The Readington Township Police Department’s K-9 officer, the Hunterdon County Holiganbet Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department assisted, police said.

Fierro was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of prescription medication not in original container and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor-vehicle summonses for driving a vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while unlicensed, tinted windows and maintenance of lamps. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
