Mother Nature sprinkled a little of everything over parts of Western Washington on Friday morning – including freezing rain and snow – prompting some schools to close or delay the start of classes.

Light accumulations of freezing rain hit some areas of the South Sound, including Olympia, Shelton and the area around Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Farther north, especially in Snohomish County, there was enough snow to cancel school for the day.

Light snow also was reported in Kitsap County and parts of Jefferson, Clallam and Whatcom counties.

Elsewhere, including downtown Seattle, there was plain old cold Northwest rain.

Temperatures ranged from the low to mid 30s across most of the region.

The weather so far has had little impact on traffic or the morning commute.

However, the Washington State Patrol is urging motorists to exercise extreme caution due to fluctuating conditions.
