The road remains open to local traffic at the closures, at Cedarville Road to the north and Browns Drive to the south in Williams Township.
The closure is necessary for the removal of trees in utility wires, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
The around-the-clock closure is scheduled to continue through 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Recent weather got tree entangled in wires, and the closure was necessary for the safety of motorists, said PennDOT spokesman Sean Brown. The department had hoped to have its tree-removal contractor begin working Tuesday, but the start of work was pushed back to Wednesday afternoon.
The suggested detour uses Cedarville Drive, Morgan Hill Road and Browns Drive.
Truckers, however, are detoured onto Interstate 78 to the Hellertown interchange, to Route 412 into Bucks County, according to PennDOT.
