Comments: Maybe no other regional wrestler met two better foes this week than Feyrer did, and the Trojan split a pair of overtime results. He lost 7-5 to Pocono Mountain West’s Greg Bensley but bounced back the next night to edge Callahan 5-3. There’s no penalty for the Bensley loss and Feyrer vaults to No. 3 with the defeat of Callahan. Fontanez bumps to No. 2, and Iles returns at No. 5 with Kyle Connelly’s drop to 195. Oberly won District 12; Kalfaian was runner-up at District 19. Melise, meanwhile, was the unanimous Outstanding Wrestler at District 9 with three pins in of all 2:26; he now holds Phillipsburg’s all-time pin record at 70. Given that the No. 2 seed in Region 3 is a wrestler (Montclair’s Sam Mellow) that Melise pinned in 1:17 in the D-9 final, expect that pin number to grow this weekend.
