Firefighters were battling a large fire this morning at the Tymber Skan on the Lake condo complex, just south of downtown Orlando.

Orange County Fire Rescue crews responded just before 8 a.m. to find a building on Tymberwood Lane fully engulfed in flames.

Photos and TV video of the scene showed flames coming from the roof of one of the buildings in the troubled condo complex.

Black smoke could be seen along Interstate 4 and from downtown Orlando.

Fire officials said no injuries have been reported. At least eight units were involved, but officials said all appeared to be vacant.

It took firefighters about 25 minutes to knock down the flames, officials said. By that time, the building had been reduced to burnt rubble.

Tymber Skan is located off Texas Avenue, just west of Rio Grande Avenue in the Holden Heights area of Orange County.

It was one of several condo complexes in the area hit hard by the economic recession. Many of the homeowners filed for bankruptcy, or simply walked away letting most of the buildings fall into disrepair.

Dozens of buildings have since been condemned and county code enforcement officials estimate only about 75 people still lived in the complex, which once had 315 units.

The county started demolishing condemned or burned-out units in 2013 and have since knocked down 18 buildings. More are marked for demolition later this year.

Firefighters have responded to 42 reported fires in the complex since 2012, according to Orange County Fire Rescue.

Many were investigated as arson.

Officials said the State Fire Marshal will investigate the cause of Tuesday’s fire.
