Police are on the hunt for a man accused of robbing a Walgreens of $79 and some merchandise Monday afternoon, according to the Orlando Police Department.
The man, who posed as a customer, approached the Walgreens register at 5501 S. Kirkman Road with a disposable pack of razors, a can of shaving cream and a Hershey’s chocolate bar. After the cashier rang up the items and put them in a plastic bag, the suspect placed his wallet on the check-out counter and demanded the employee to empty his register.
The cashier hesitated due to a language barrier. After the suspect drew what appeared to be a black semiautomatic handgun with a silencer, the cashier complied with his order and placed $79 into the wallet, police said.
The man grabbed his wallet and Walgreens bag before fleeing the scene on foot. He ran north and then west past the Burger King at 5624 Vineland Road toward Major Boulevard, police said.
Patrol units responded to a call around 3:13 p.m. regarding the robbery. Police described the suspect as a man with an athletic build, scruffy facial hair and blonde eyebrows. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a pair of light-colored shorts and black high top sneakers.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect should contact Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
