CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Craft Beverage Guild of Cleveland is holding a local artisan tasting event, Sunday, Feb. 26, at Forest City Brewery.

The guild’s members include Forest City Brewery, Western Reserve Meadery, duck rabbit coffee, Griffin Ciderworks, Brick & Barrel brewery and The Everarbor Co.

“We’re pretty excited about it,” said Matt Mapus of Forest City Brewery. “We started the Craft Beverage Guild of Cleveland, and we decided ‘Hey, we can do something pretty cool here and combine efforts and showcase all of our different specialty items.”

The event is a collaboration of beverage makers teaming with local food sources:

Beer + food:

Beer: Cleveland Dark Ale (Cascadian Dark Ale) from Brick and Barrel, which is half a mile north of Forest City Brewery on Columbus Road.

Food pairing: Potato and cheese pierogi from Rudy’s Strudel & Bakery, Parma.

Coffee + food:

Coffee: Duck rabbit coffee espresso affogato.

Food pairing: Vanilla ice cream from Mason’s Creamery, Cleveland.

Beer + food:

Beer: Maide Leisg Barrel Aged Scotch Wee Heavy, Forest City Brewery.

Food pairing: English sausage and smoked Gouda skewers with Lombard mustard by Chef Nathan Sansone of Nighttown, Cleveland.

Cider + food:

Hard cider: Griffin Cider Works’ Burley Man Cider, Westlake.

Food pairing: Malt vinegar pickled eggs from Wake Robin Fermented Foods, Cleveland.

Mead + food:

Mead: Western Reserve Meadery’s strawberry basil mead.

Food pairing: Caprese skewer from Old Brooklyn Cheese Co., Cleveland.

Everarbor – a Lakewood-based business that recycles the brewery, mead and coffee waste products – is a member of the guild. Reps at the tasting will provide recycled tastingware.

The tasting event is limited to 80 people. Each attendee also will receive two 8-ounce tasting glasses. Tickets are $40 via EventBrite, $50 at the door.

Forest City is at 2135 Columbus Road.

Forest City Brewery, Western Reserve Meadery and duck rabbit coffee all share space in the renovated building at Freeman Avenue and Columbus Road.
