“Criminal Minds” kicked off an interesting and tragic arc for Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) last week. The triple Ph.D. holder found himself in prison after being accused of killing an American citizen in Mexico who was selling drugs. The genius FBI Agent was buying experimental drugs outside the border in order to use it to cure his mother Diana (Jane Lynch) of Alzheimer’s.
What will happen next on the CBS show?
The crime series’ executive producer, Erica Messer, revealed during an interview to TVGuide that BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) Chief Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) will help Reid. The former Interpol Agent will introduce her colleague to her old friend who also happens to be an incredible defense attorney, Fiona Duncan (Jeananne Goossen). Soon, she takes Reid’s case. Fiona will be seen in several episodes of Season 12. She is going to try to get him out of this dire situation.
Together, the lawyer and her client will figure out if he should plead guilty or not. In “Criminal Minds” Season 12, episode 14, the question of whether Reid will be granted bail or not will be answered. The nerd’s story will continue till the season finale so fans of Gubler’s character are going to get a whole lot of Reid in the upcoming episodes.
However, things are going to get worse for Reid very soon. The promo of Wednesday’s episode reveals that the authorities will find the murder weapon, a knife, and sadly, the prints on the weapon matches Reid’s. Oh no! The synopsis (via TVGuide) of the episode states that he will receive some bad news.
While the team does everything they can to help their colleague get out of jail, they will also solve a case involving fatal car crashes.
