Police are investigating a case of arson case at the Apostolic Christian Tabernacle in north Boulder over the weekend.

Police said that some time Saturday night, something on fire was thrown at the door of the church, located at 1501 Quince Ave. The burning item left scorch marks on the church door and also filled the interior of the church with smoke.

Pastor George Hicks said the church was forced to cancel Sunday’s services because the building was still filled with smoke.

“We’ve had some vandalism and graffiti, but nothing on this scale,” Hicks said. “Even the police were kind of surprised.”

Hicks said no note or message was left.

“Obviously I don’t know who, what, when or where, but my gut says it is just an act of vandalism by young people in the neighborhood, but that’s just a guess,” Hicks said. “Kids will be kids, but when you move up to arson that’s not just a childish prank.”
