Oh snap! Looks like “Night in the Woods” fans who waited for the game patiently would have to extend their waiting period yet again. Infinite Fall just announced another delay. Fortunately, this will not affect everyone who wanted to get their hands on the single-player adventure game since it was announced in June 2014.
Developer Infinite Fall took to the official “Night in the Woods” Twitter account this Sunday to inform its followers about the last-minute change on the PS4 launch of the video game in the EU. In the tweet, the three-person development team stated that EU fans will only have access to the game starting Feb. 28. The team explained that a “bunch of random factors” made them push back the game’s PS4 release.
Infinite Fall assured other gamers that as previously promised “Night in the Woods” for Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux will arrive on Feb. 21. The same can be said of the PS4 version of the game for the U.S. and other regions. Another tidbit the developer revealed on Twitter is the absence of translations in the game at launch.
It appears Infinite Fall has been battling numerous setbacks in the course of developing the adventure game. TheSixthAxis pointed out that the game was initially expected to release in 2015 after it was announced in 2014. The release date was delayed to 2016, but a couple of issues led the team to delay it to Jan. 10, 2017. When the day came, the team shocked fans by announcing that it pushed back the launch date to Feb. 21.
Ahead of the official release of the game, Infinite Fall already introduced two supplemental games: “Longest Night” and “Lost Constellation.” According to the developer, each of these two is “not a demo or a preview of ‘Night in the Woods’,” for they are more of tangent side-stories.
