A man crossing an Orange County road was killed after being hit by a car Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 58-year-old man, whose name hasn’t been released, was crossing Lee Road about 7:15 p.m. when he walked into the path of a car near Kingswood Drive, highway patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Jason Varnadore, 34, hit the man head-on in his Saturn, Montes said.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene of the crash, which was just west of Eatonville.

Troopers are still investigating.
