Jeter scored a career-high 29 and Young had 11 as Pittsburgh upset the No. 17 Seminoles 80-66 Saturday.

Jeter, who averages 7.6 points, also had eight rebounds. The 6-foot-8 forward hit four 3-pointers as he showed his range against bigger defenders.

Jeter and Young presented a matchup problem inside with their athleticism.

"Whoever (center Michael Ojo) was guarding, he was going to have a hard time keeping up with those two guys, because they’re just more mobile," Pitt coach Kevin Stallings said.

FSU (21-6, 9-5 ACC), which has never won an ACC regular-season championship, went in a game behind North Carolina, which hosted Virginia late Saturday. There were four teams within a game of one another at the top of the conference, including Duke and Louisville.

Pitt (15-12, 4-10) led by as many as 15 in the second half, but a 10-0 FSU run cut its deficit to two with 6:19 left. The Panthers outscored the Seminoles 16-4 the rest of the way.

D carries Gators

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Florida has occasionally put up huge offensive numbers this season, including 106 and 114 points in games over the past month. But Saturday the shots weren’t falling.

So the No. 15 Gators resorted to Plan B: a little grit, a little luck and a whole lot of defense in a 57-52 win over Mississippi State.

"We’ve been able to find different ways to win … games," coach Mike White said. "It’s been different guys night in and night out, and this is just another example."

Florida (22-5, 12-2 SEC) won its eighth straight, the longest winning streak during White’s two-year tenure. The Gators, who are tied atop the SEC with Kentucky, also won their first game since starting center John Egbunu’s season-ending knee injury.

Sophomore forward Kevarrius Hayes — who has an expanded role because of Egbunu’s injury — had a crucial block in the final minute when the Bulldogs (14-12, 5-9) were trying to push ahead.

The coming week is a biggie for UF: On Tuesday, it hosts No. 21 South Carolina, then Saturday it travels to No. 13 Kentucky.

TULANE 94, USF 71: Melvin Frazier scored a season-high 27, and the host Green Wave (5-21, 2-12 AAC) strengthened its hold on the 10th and final berth in the conference tournament by completing its first regular-season series sweep of the Bulls (7-19, 1-14). Geno Thorpe scored 22 to lead USF, which has lost 16 of 18.

MIAMI 71, CLEMSON 65: Kamari Murphy’s career-high 15 points helped the host Hurricanes (18-8, 8-6 ACC) improve their NCAA Tournament resume.

NO. 1 GONZAGA 82, PACIFIC 61: Nigel Williams-Goss had 18 points and seven assists as the host Bulldogs (28-0, 16-0 West Coast) remained the only undefeated team in Division I.

NO. 2 ‘NOVA 92, SETON HALL 70: Jalen Brunson had 22 points and a career-high 10 assists as the visiting Wildcats (26-2, 13-2) clinched a tie for an unprecedented fourth straight Big East regular-season title.

NO. 3 KANSAS 67, NO. 4 BAYLOR 65: Landen Lucas made two free throws with 11 seconds left as the visiting Jayhawks (24-3, 12-2 Big 12) took a three-game lead over the Bears (22-5, 9-5) with four games to play.

NO. 7 OREGON 101, COLO. 73: Dillon Brooks scored 23 and Dylan Ennis added 20 for the Ducks (24-4, 13-2 Pac-12), who won their 42nd straight home game.

NO. 8 L’VILLE 94, VA. TECH 90: Donovan Mitchell scored 26 to lead the host Cardinals (22-5, 10-4 ACC), who hit 12 of 22 3-pointers.

NO. 9 W. VA. 83, TEXAS TECH 74, 2OT: Jevon Carter scored a season-high 24 for the host Mountaineers (21-6, 9-5 Big 12), who let a late lead slip away and were forced to play overtime for the second straight game.

UConn women survive

NEW ORLEANS — Napheesa Collier had 26 points and 12 rebounds and No. 1 Connecticut held off Tulane 63-60 to push its record winning streak to 101 games. Katie Lou Samuelson scored 15 straight for UConn (26-0, 13-0 AAC) in a second-half spurt. The Green Wave pulled within two three times late but could never get a defensive stop.

"We’re not as good as everybody thinks we are, and (Saturday) was a perfect example," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. "They think that every shot that they take is supposed to go in, then when it doesn’t go in, they pout and they feel sorry for themselves and act like 12-year-olds, and that’s exactly what happened. Not every shot is supposed to go in. God isn’t punishing you. Figure out a way to help us win the game."

NO. 4 FSU 80, CLEMSON 47: Brittany Brown and Ivey Slaughter scored 14 each for the host Seminoles (24-4, 12-2 ACC), who bounced back from consecutive losses.

NO. 4 BAYLOR 89, OKLA. ST. 67: Nina Davis had a season-high 23 for the host Bears (25-2, 14-1), who never trailed and tied Texas for first place in the Big 12.

NO. 19 OKLA. 74, NO. 8 TEXAS 73: Peyton Little hit a 3 with two seconds left as the host Sooners (21-6, 12-3 Big 12) snapped a 19-game winning streak by the Longhorns (21-5, 14-1).
