CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland man wanted by the FBI in connection with two recent bank robberies in Ohio City was arrested Friday after strolled into Cleveland City Hall to get a copy of his birth certificate.

Officers stationed at the entrance to City Hall took Mark Lloyd, 31, into custody at about 1 p.m. after they recognized the distinct gun-shaped tattoo on his face, according to FBI spokeswoman Vicki Anderson.

The Cleveland Division of the FBI circulated Lloyd’s photo earlier this week after they named him as a suspect in a Jan. 30 robbery at Ohio Savings Bank and a Feb. 13 robbery at PNC, both on West 25th Street.

A warrant for Lloyd’s arrest was issued Tuesday and investigators asked the public for help in tracking Lloyd down the following day.

On Friday afternoon at city hall, Lloyd claimed to be “Michael Lloyd” and applied for a duplicate birth certificate, Anderson said.

“Vigilant officers at the entryway of city hall observed that the individual had a gun tattoo underneath his eye.  They recognized him as the individual being sought,” Anderson said.

Cleveland police notified the FBI after making the arrest, Anderson said.
